The original game was based on the Hawaiian island of O’ahu and had around 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of roads that gamers could explore. In a video announcing Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown, it has been confirmed the game’s map will be a 1:1 recreation of a real island. The new game will be developed by Nacon and Kylotonn, also known as KT Racing, and aims to build upon the success of its predecessors. The original Test Drive Unlimited and Test Drive Unlimited 2 games paved the way for massive open-world racing games and despite their issues, generated a loyal fan base (this writer included). The Test Drive video game series will make a return almost a decade after the last installment with the announcement of Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown.
